Music Festival Fashion: The Last of Summer Looks

I don’t know about everyone else, but I still associate the first week of September with autumn and the start of a new school year  – meaning Staples, sweaters and sadness about a dwindling summer. Yet, I refuse to give up on this season just yet. I refuse to tuck away my breezier duds and embrace lower temperatures; we’ve still got two weeks left of August and a whole handful of music festivals (Gentleman of the Road this weekend in Simcoe and Ottawa Folkfest in September, to name a few) that require some serious wardrobe decisions. That being said, the fun of this time of year is merging your summer and fall closets to create limitless looks filled with layers and a whole rainbow of shades. Whether you’re crowd-surfing at noon, huddling together after sundown, jacketed or crop-topped, booted or sandalled, light or dark – you can blend the best of both seasons’ trends to channel whatever rock star you wake up wanting to be.

Some ideas for you to rock ‘n roll with:

1boyfriend style
Say what you will about the awkward actress, but K-Stew has always been at the forefront of the boyfriend style revolution. (Chuck Taylor Converse sneakers, Nixon gold watch, Zara ripped boyfriend jeans, Undefeated Boss snapback, 1LoveTO black tank)

If she isn’t performing at countless festivals, an effortless Florence Welsh never fails to wow as a golden flowerchild attendee. (Aldo Barrois suede boots, Jenny Bird Endless Summer necklace, Free People leather banded floppy hat, Anthropologie Stage Set Shift dress, ASOS sunglasses)

3edgy

Oh-so-on-point Alexa Chung is always the first to rock a collar or bow, but not before adding a leather or stud, of course. (Deena and Ozzy combat boots, J. Crew Spiky Rope necklace, H&M leather pleated skirt, Free Willie t-shirt, Gap Camo Utility jacket)
