Mummy Cupcakes

We’re all about Halloween on the ‘shell. Last week, Jess brought you a spooky playlist to spin at your Halloween party this Thursday while Kate, Catherine and I appeared on CTV Ottawa Morning Live to discuss libations, costumes and, my personal favourite, some haunted treats! Well, in case our Witches’ Fingers and Spider Cupcakes weren’t enough, this weekend I whipped up another batch of simple Halloween-themed cupcakes. And this time, they were inspired by mummies.

What You’ll Need:

-your favourite cupcakes & icing
-eyeball candies (I picked up mine at Michael’s, but you could easily use M&M’s, Skittles, or any other round candy)
-Piping Tool

What Youll Need

Directions:

Bake your favourite cupcakes and let them cool for about 30 minutes. Prepare your piping tool with icing and choose a tip that will make a line, thick enough to look like bandages.

1. Pipe 4 lines in a basket-weave manner on the cupcake.
2. Stick “eyes” onto two of the overlapping lines of icing.

You will continue to pipe lines of icing to fill in the top of the cupcake. Get creative with your bandages; frame the face by going around the outside of the cupcake. Try not to make the bandages look too perfect – they should come at different angles.

These treats were really simple to make and pleased kids and adults alike when I handed them out! Happy Baking, nuts!
