Super Bowl XLVIII: Who to Cheer For?

kace1in a nutshell is proud to have Kacie Hollins, seasoned sports host and reporter, take the reporting reigns today and give us her two cents on one of the biggest sporting events of the year. We’ll take her advice any day! Thanks, Kacie.

Everyone knows you don’t have to be a fan of the teams that made it to the Super Bowl to be a fan of the event itself. You don’t even really need to be a fan of football. If you like friends, food and beer, then you’re probably looking forward to February 2 regardless.

That being said, sports are always more exciting when you’re rooting for someone. But, what team should you cheer for? Use this little cheat sheet to figure out if Seattle or Denver should have you by their side on the big day. Unless of course you’re going by uniform colours, which is also totally acceptable.

Do you like snow? And old guys? Comebacks? Then the Denver Broncos might be your team. Their quarterback, Peyton Manning, is considered one of the best QBs to ever play the game, yet he only has one championship ring! He had neck surgery in 2011 and missed the entire season. When he came back in 2012, he was not the Peyton everyone remembered. But this year he’s back, baby! He’s been pretty much unstoppable and has proven week after week why he’s in a category all his own this season. Sorry, Tom Brady fans.

Now, do you prefer the ocean? Do you like young, adorable football players? Do you enjoy a little trash talk here and there? The Seattle Seahawks are definitely your team. Their quarterback, Russell Wilson, is only in his second NFL season! He’s had his ups and downs this season, but last weekend he led his team to victory in a VERY closely contested and tension-filled game. And, he’s the picture of charm to boot.  But he might be the only one; the Seahawks have carved a place for themselves in the minds of football fans as the scrappy, dirty, trash-talking team of the NFL. Whether or not that label is fair, they certainly play with a lot of passion. And the trash-talking part is definitely true. Just ask Richard Sherman. If you like your sports with a little edge, then the Seahawks are the way to go.
