So, apparently fall is here with a vengeance. It’s not like we had a sweltering summer, but overnight the temperatures have dropped and there are leaves beginning to tumble onto my front lawn. I know that a lot of people out there are mourning the end of summer, but I for one happen to love fall. Here’s what I’m excited about for the upcoming season:
1. Matte Nails
While I appreciate the bright and pastel nail colours that embody spring and summer, I also love rich, dark colours as we come into fall and winter. Of course, we can deviate from these tired nail trends, but lets face it – deep crimson nails just scream fall. Over the summer I picked up Essie’s Matte About You topcoat and I’m excited to up the ante with my manicure and use it on top of some of my darker polish colors.
2. Pumpkin Everything
We’ve talked about our pumpkin obsession on the ‘shell before. And it’s back. In full force. I’m currently enjoying Pumpkin Chai tea from David’s Tea in the evenings and plan to indulge in these cupcakes and a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks in the VERY near future.
3. Cozying up with a Mystery
For some reason (maybe because of Halloween) , I find fall a little bit spooky. I just finished reading Sharp Objects by Gillian Flynn which was totally disturbing, but a great read. Next on my list is the Cuckoo’s Calling, J.K. Rowling’s mystery novel that she penned under a pseudonym. Also, I’m very excited for the premiere of American Horror Story: Coven. Basically, I’m planning to ruin my sleep and let myself get creeped out this fall. I’m hoping that you’ll join me!
4. Wrapping It Up
I’m so excited that we’re back to the season where wearing a scarf at every waking moment is appropriate. Catherine has talked about the importance of investing in a great scarf before, and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve dug out my fall/winter items and my neck has never been more excited.
