Recent Beauty Buys vol. 3

What have I been testing out and loving lately? Read on for my latest must-haves…

1. Laura Mercier Silk Crème Oil Free Photo Edition Foundation

Foundation is a super-personal product, so I was hesitant at first to share this in a blog post. But honestly, it’s is too lovely to keep a secret. I was in a foundation rut and had tried a couple of different options that let me down before this was recommended to me. It’s long-lasting, with a natural matte finish and buildable coverage. It feels so creamy when it goes on and it doesn’t dry out my skin (which is a HUGE factor for me). Definitely worth a try if you’re looking for something that will make your skin look flaless and radiant! For reference, I wear the colour rose ivory.

2. Philosophy’s Microdelivery Overnight Anti-Aging Peel

Anti-aging. Kill me now.

Just kidding, obviously. But in all honesty, this product is awesome. I had always shyed away from peels and focused more on moisturizing masks because of my dry skin, but what’s great about this system is that it combines the benefits of a peel (an immediate microexfoliation which reduces the appearance of dull skin, fine lines and wrinkles) and an overnight moisture mask in a two-step proces. I’ve been using this about two times a week for a few months and my skin is happy. In the morning, I do notice a difference in how bright my skin looks. I rotate between this and my other favourite moisturizing sleep mask (which you can read about here) and night cream.

3. Sephora Collection Eye Mask

Summer: the season of longer days and late nights. But the effects of those late nights can be tired and puffy looking eyes. I’ve turned to these inexpensive eye masks a few times and now and they have always left my eyes looking brighter after each use. They are just like the full sheet masks that have taken the beauty world by storm, but strictly for under your eyes. Plus, for only $6 it’s a fun and inexpensive way to pamper yourself! I’ve used the Green Tea and Pearl varieties and loved them both.

4. Duo Brush On Adhesive

I’ve mentioned before that I have a sensitivity to glue. This sensitivity/allergy was dashing my dreams of wearing false lashes on special occasions. Talk about a buzzkill. Luckily, I have found this product which (thank god) doesn’t irritate my eyes! Duo’s glue has long been praised as an industry-best, but this version is formulated without formaldehyde and latext and contains vitamins A and E to moisturize while you wear it. It’s considered safe for people who wear contacts and who have sensitive eyes (check and check).

Also, while we’re on the subject, some of my favourite false lashes…

Finally, if these four products aren’t enough, you can read my first two posts in this series here and here.
