Three Hair Products For An Effortless Routine

Based on some of my interests, I’m often mistook for a complete and total tomboy. Sure, I love my bucket headphones and converse, but I also love fashion, beauty products and getting guzzled as much as the next girl. In times of inspiration drought, like most people, I have a trusty blogroll I turn to (Into The Gloss, afterDRK, Cup of Jo) before hitting the stores and product lines, and I happen to have a best friend who kindly tips me off to hot new beauty trends. All of this combined with my no fuss, no muss approach to hair and beauty routine has recently led me down the yellow brick road to three hair products that make my life exponentially easier.

I used to think “product” meant sticky, structured and added mess – when in fact, with these three products, I actually walk away feeling more unadorned and energized than I would otherwise.

This is after towel drying, spritzing, and running out the door!

1. Bumble and Bumble Surf Spray: I will admit, I’m lucky enough to have naturally wavy hair that can coil into a ringlet as readily as it can be straightened to a pin. But, on those days I want to let my natural waves free (and cut my morning primp in half), it doesn’t mean I’m going to walk out the door looking like Kate Hudson. This is why I was ecstatic to read a review earlier this summer of B&B Surf Spray – a salt-infused, delicious smelling product you spritz on to towel dried hair for that beachy, windswept look. I’ve had so many compliments on my natural locks since using this, many of which include people thinking I’ve used a special wave curler.

Goose agrees that Mum’s hair is sunshiny bright.

2. John Frieda Sheer Blonde® Go Blonder Controlled Lightening Spray: Fun fact: My hair is naturally brown. Not black-brown and not mousey brown, but a very solid brown that, since I decided to go blonde eight years ago, obviously requires slight maintenance. My hair doesn’t grow particularly fast, so my roots are never dastardly, but the colour does fade to the point of blah every 3 or so months. That is, until I started using a little of this spray (gifted to me by Kaylee!) in between colours, et voila! I’ve now gone five whole months without visiting a stylist.

Two-day-old hair, my friends.

3.  Bumble and Bumble Prêt-à-powder: Alas, another B&B hit with this tiny bottle of miracle-working oil absorbent fairy dust! Having relatively fine hair, I’ve never been one to go days without a hair wash. Also, I like to think it wakes me up in the morning. That being said, since I’m usually battling a chaotic schedule and am always trying to keep healthy, undamaged locks in mind, I’ve learned to love the concept of rolling out of bed and tossing some of this through my mane. It’s perfect before heading out the door to those Saturday morning brunches or early AM meetings – adding volume, texture and and a little edge to yesterday’s coif.

Happy styling!
