Highlights from Spring 2014 Thus Far

As we begin to contemplate the knits, boots and cute cold weather accessories that come with Fall, the fashion world is a flutter with all things Spring. Spring 2014 is in its final day at New York Fashion Week, continuing on in the coming days to London, Milan and finally, Paris. With this comes countless street style shots, plenty of front row gossip, and, of course, a whole lot of clothing, accessories, beauty trends and more to covet. Here are a few standout moments from the first few days of New York Fashion Week…

Prabal Gurung

Not often a fan of futuristic influences, I have to say that Prabal’s Spring 2014 collection, with its acid hues, embellishments and angular cuts, really won me over. There’s something so unique and avant-garde about the collection, making it stand-out among the others in all its glory. Bound for many editorials in the coming months I’m sure…

Jumpsuits at DVF

Diane von Furstenberg made the wrap dress a must-have in every woman’s closet, and this time she’s turned to the jumpsuit for Spring 2014. In DVF’s signature pop of pattern, flattering fit and stunning au natural look, these jumpsuits modernize her vision, with 70s influences and all those little details that are true to her brand.

Haute Hailing

What’s a fashion week post without a little street style? The usual suspects hit the streets of New York this week in their runway best, clothed in outfits reserved only for sacred moments like these. It’s a cab drivers paradise…

Latin influences at Naeem Kham

Milkmaid braids a la Frida Kahlo and red carpet worthy gowns with Latin influences made up the Naeem Khan Spring 2014 collection. Stylists in the front row would have certainly taken note for Awards season…

True Ready-to-Wear @ Rebecca Minkoff

A truly wearable collection on the runway? Oh my! Rebecca Minkoff’s Spring 2014 collection gives us a style we can truly embrace for the warm weather season to come. Clad with embroidery, tassel detailing, fun patterns, milk maid braids (sensing a pattern) and hippie tendencies, there’s just so much to love.

Runway Kiddos

Amidst the high heels and long model stems, there’s just a sprinkle of tiny feet and baby bodies attending the shows. Now a regular at fashion week, Aila Wang, Alexander Wang’s picture perfect niece, made an appearance this week dressed head-to-toe in her uncle’s Spring 2014 collection. Oh, and a mini Balenciaga bag too, of course. The following day, toddler Harper Beckham sat front row at mum’s show on her dad’s lap – and prompted a social media frenzy when she made the Devil in Prada herself, Anna Wintour, crack a smile. Check out that perfect top knot.

Oscar. Always, Oscar.

The man, the legend. Ladies who love full skirts, bright hues, statement jewels and all things feminine (ahem, me) will find no fault in Oscar de la Renta designs. This Spring 2014 edition is no exception. Always current, refined and true to his signature aesthetic, Spring is as elegant as ever at the house of Oscar.
