The warm weather is here! With that, comes those much-awaited Toronto festivals, grand openings and park days galore. Here are three city happenings the Toronto nuts enjoyed this past weekend:
Portland Variety: Soft Opening
Located at the corner of King West and Portland, Portland Variety is the area’s new melting pot for aperitivo, breakfast, lunch, dinner, and your daily coffee break. Jess has been watching the progress of this place unfold, as she lives just a few doors down, and we were lucky enough to get a sneak peek at the space on Saturday, complete with free treats, cocktails and coffees galore. Set to open any day now, we know it will be a hit in the neighbourhood!
Trinity Bellwoods Hangs
Evidently open all year ’round, Trinity Bellwoods is a whole new place when the sun comes out. West-enders flock to the expansive park, with beers, guitars, dogs, balloons, picnic baskets and blankets in tow for all-day festivities. As my inaugural Trinity Bellwoods hang of the season, I felt it worthy of a mention : )
Woofstock 2014 at Woodbine Park
Woofstock is the largest outdoor festival for dogs in North America, attracting thousands of dog owners, and hundreds of vendors for man’s best friend. There are fashion shows, “beauty” pageants, doggy tattoos, costumes, countless treat samples, resulting in some truly hilarious/adorable sightings…
The event is even equipped with dog-friendly frozen yogurt… (which Henry did not enjoy/understand)
There’s no doubt that Woofstock will be back next year, but in the meantime, head to Woodbine Park if you’re looking to escape the city. Climb the hill and enjoy this view, roll around in the grass, or stumble just a few steps away and find the beach!
