The end of August can be a sad time of year for some, as it signifies the end of summer, but for my fellow nut, Meghan, and I, it means birthday time! As you may know, I’m about to embark on a big adventure in Europe, so spending money on a dress I’ll likely wear once or twice is not so savvy. As a result, I’ve been scouring the web lately for some party dressing inspiration, something that will help me reinvent a few pieces in my wardrobe. I stumbled upon this editorial from Elle France (May 2011) and it was just what I was looking for. I know I’ve said in the past that editorials are unreachable dream-like sequences that just make us feel like our collection of clothing is inferior, but the styling of an editorial is also a great place to pull influence for your own choices. Fashion Editor Friquette Thevenet styled the models in some big trends, from colour blocking to punk and western to jungle. It’s got something for everyone … and if it inspires you to shop a bit, so be it. (That’s what summer sales are for, in a nutshell).
