KTL (Kate the Light)

Another little nut is one year older! We celebrated on Friday night at Bluesfest despite the rain, but her Birthday wouldn’t be complete without a shoutout from all her girls! Happy Day to the girl who lights up our lives!

**FROM JESS

In one word, Kate is: Beautiful.
The food that reminds me of Kate is: Those over-priced little desserts on sticks at Starbucks. So tiny, cute and tasty – leaves you wanting more!
You’ll never find Kate: Accurately able to remember a thing of the past.
My favorite day with Kate: The day she drove to Kingston to surprise me for my birthday, with a rap video and re-worked song entitled “Jess” (to the tune of “Yes” by LMFAO)
My favourite night with Kate: Her 2010 birthday, when Kate took over the stage and the microphone with a small crowd of stranger fans.
I would build Kate: A house full of chalkboards to write down her hilarious quotes and to help her remember life’s little details…
One of Kate’s best lines ever was: “I’m setting the table of my life, so to speak. Most people should have a napkin, a placemat, some nice cutlery. I’m going to do that, watch me.”
In 5 years you’ll find Kate: Having travelled the world and then returned to share her experiences with others whether it’s through a book, psychology or….an interview on Ellen Degeneres.

**FROM CAT

In one word, Kate is: enthusiastic.
The food that reminds me of Kate is: LUNCH! (I realize that is not a food and rather a meal, but too bad.)
You’ll never find Kate: remembering anything correctly.
My favorite day with Kate: was any day out of our 2-month long crusade through Australia finding love and fast food in all the wrong places and life and adventure in all the right ones.
My favorite night with Kate: Was when we knocked ourselves over after running into each other full-tilt in order to make it on the dance floor to perform our newly learned Soulja Boy dance.
I would build Kate a: shrine to all of her pets, including Spice the poor bunny with the equilibrium problem.
One of Kate’s best lines ever was: “Don’t shush me! I’m in my prime!” – my bday 2009.
In 5 years you’ll find Kate: back from a trip around the world, ready for whatever “real life” throws her way and sitting down to a lengthy catch up sesh with her best gals.

The ‘ultimate jumping pic’ in front of the Sydney Opera House in Australia!

**FROM ALLISON

In one word, Kate is: Loving.
The food that reminds me of Kate is: is wine a food group?
You’ll never find Kate: Remembering a single thing. Ever.
My favorite day with Kate: York Street’s Sunday Fun Day as rookies. Those pink shirts are enough of a memory (insert “can’t watch” BBM emote here).
My favorite night with Kate: was in Dominican when we swam to a local’s yacht that was docked at our resort, most romantic night under the stars if you ask me.
I would build Kate a: Vineyard so she could make all her favorite vino’s.
One of Kate’s best lines ever was: when she incorporates any, and every quote from the Sandlot into her day to day vocabulary.
In 5 years you’ll find Kate: travelling, writing, and completely in love.

**FROM MEG

In one word, Kate is: Hilarious (1 out of 50 times).
The food that reminds me of Kate is: Anything wonderfully weird (basically anything I have eaten that is outside of the meat and potatoes category is thanks to her.)
You’ll never find Kate: with a fully charged cell phone or a correct account of anything in the past.
My favorite day with Kate: was the first day of Carletonopoly frosh. Kate showed up dressed to the nine’s trying to impress her fellow co-eds on Canal Day before she realized that it was a messy outdoor day. She proceeded to partake in every event despite her fancy attire. (Cause that’s the kind of girl she is!)
My favorite night with Kate: was when we celebrated the Canadian Men’s Hockey Team’s gold medal win (or any other time we have acted like a couple). I hoisted her onto my shoulders and we both drank beer on Parliament Hill.
I would build Kate a: magical black purse that doesn’t allow her to lose it’s contents. Then Cat and I would never have to sing the ‘Rummage’ song at her while she struggles to find any and every belonging she owns.
One of Kate’s best lines ever was: ‘I NEED SOME SPICE IN MY LIFE!’ as she threw herself against a wall of lockers in our high school porta-pak. So much teenage angst.  –OR—
“MEGHAN, WE ARE IN A RELATIONSHIP!” after realizing how often she gripped on to me like a koala at Kaylee’s cottage.
In 5 years you’ll find Kate: well travelled, well read, and well loved by all around her. I’ll probably still be telling her to drive straight until further notice, and to PATTYS (Pay Attention to your Surroundings).

**FROM JENN

In one word, Kate is: Excitable.
The food that reminds me of Kate is: pickles…because of her love for pickle juice in our ceasars.
You’ll never find Kate: looking unfashionable.
My favorite day with Kate: Saturday of our t-train girls weekend at Kaylee’s cottage. Flip-cup, icing, Ada’s and cookies made for a very eventful day.
My favorite night with Kate: August long weekend 2009, when we snuck out of Heather’s place and hitch-hiked our way to the beach with someless than respectable characters.
I would build Kate a: My handyman skills are not so great, but if I could build I would build Kate world’s largest wine cellar with a special shelf reserved for tequila.
One of Kate’s best lines ever was: All of Kate’s reactions tostories or gossip get me every time. Her big “OH NO”, or “Are YOU serious?”, or“Hold on, WHAT?”.
In 5 years you’ll find Kate: traveling Europe as a famous restaurant critic and wine connoisseur.

**FROM KAYLEE

In one word, Kate is: passionate
The food that reminds me of Kate is: A gourmet 7-course meal, in a lovely Ottawa restaurant.
You’ll never find Kate: Helping out with an Amber Alert, because she’s not quite sure what it means.
My favorite day with Kate: My cottage, drinking tall cans, driving by swat cars, icing ourselves in the snow.
My favorite night with Kate: The night she found her place on the Pier21 stage, grabbed a guitar, and rocked out in her platforms, cut-off jeans and crop top like no one was in the room.
I would build Kate a: Wine cellar filled with the world’s greatest wines.
One of Kate’s best lines ever was: “You guys might think I’m crazy, but we will be on the Ellen Degeneres show one day.”
In 5 years you’ll find Kate: Still her lovely, inquisitive self, having traveled the world, continually helping others along the way, and rocking out to vintage records.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY KATE!
