What We’re Nuts for Lately

1. Vine

Often deemed the “new Instagram”, this new iPhone app is all the rage – it is currently #4 in the App Store, before staples like Google Maps and YouTube. To put it simply, Vine is the video interpretation of Instagram, without the filters and the hipster innuendos. It may as well be called “film editing for dummies” – you hold the screen to shoot, let go to cut and only have a quick 6 seconds to fit in the full story. I have to say that there’s much more creativity involved when creating a Vine than posting to Insta, but in the end, the message is the same – check out a snapshot of my life.
You can find some of the nuts on vine: Jess and Kate and I!

2. Jennifer Lawrence

If you haven’t seen Silver Linings Playbook yet…please DO. I can’t say I’ve seen a more lovable movie in quite some time. Bradley and Jennifer have incredible on-screen chemistry, and the realness of the story really pulls you in from the beginning. There’s no arguing that the nuts (ahem, Jess) are obsessed with Bradley Cooper, but Jennifer Lawrence is a newfound love of ours. If you’ve seen her on the red carpet sporting the best of Dior, Calvin Klein, Chloe and Emilio Pucci, you’ve likely already fallen for her. But if that wasn’t enough, watch ANY of her interviews. She exudes dry humour and natural beauty, and has about a thousand hilarious stories about her mother (she “voted” in the Academy Awards, as in, submitted Jennifer’s highly confidential ballot, and also mistakenly announced her daughter’s role in the Hunger Games way before planned.) Watch J-Law on Ellen, and fall for her like us:

3. Oz The Great and Powerful

All it took was this one shot of Michelle Williams in costume as Glinda to get me excited about Oz The Great and Powerful a few weeks ago. With a cast like this one – including James Franco, Michelle Williams, Mila Kunis, Rachel Weisz and Zach Braff – you really can’t go wrong. In the 30 second sneak peak aired during the Super Bowl, Oz is revealed as a magical and imaginative world reminiscent of Charlie and the Chocolate factory, with a little more glamour. We can’t wait to see how the story unfolds! Disney’s latest blockbuster premieres March 8. Watch the trailer here.

4. The Mrs. Carter World Tour

We all watched Beyonce do her thing on the Super Bowl halftime stage this past Sunday, and no one could deny that her body looked better than ever, despite baby Blue, and she certainly knows how to work a stage after more than two decades in the spotlight. It’s no secret that I am a B worshiper so you can imagine my excitement when Miss Sasha Fierce announced the MRS. CARTER WORLD TOUR post-Super Bowl. Let’s just say I’ll be there 100%. My last Beyonce concert was unforgettable and I cannot WAIT for this one. Canadian concert dates are as follows – mark your calendars!
PS – Did I mention we’re NUTS for the tour title? Mrs. Jay-Z. YES.

July 21 / / Toronto / / Air Canada Centre
July 22 / / Montreal / / Bell Centre

5. The Penny

As you likely know, yesterday Canadians ’round the country held wallet-size funerals for their little copper/zinc friends. The penny is officially on its way to extinction, leaving cashiers, who must now round, with a whole new dilemma. Economic issues aside, DIYers from Etsy to Pinterest have long used the penny as a decorative tool, and now is a better time than ever to follow suite with a tabletop, frame or floor adorned with the small coin.
