Super Bowl Party Plays

Beast Mode or Brady?

Time will only tell which NFL team will secure a victory when the Seattle Seahawks and the New England Patriots take to the world’s biggest stage this Sunday.

Whether you’re cheering as the 12th man or as a Pats fan, there is one thing that everyone will agree on: that every Super Bowl deserves a super party. That’s where the nuts come in, with our Super Bowl party plays complete with DIY’s, games and memorable football fanfare.

1. Down. SET. hut:  Set the table for your super bowl party by using any green table cloth, or at your local hardware store pick up a sheet of astroturf to turn your table into a football field. White hockey tape or felt will do the trick to make the yard lines and, if you’re feeling extra crafty, mark each yard line with 50, 40, 30, and so on.

2. Football (fan)fare: Super bowl parties are commonly associated with delicious spreads from chicken wings, to nachos to chilli. The nuts came  across a few unique ideas to keep the hosting simple, yet interesting. Set up a hotdog bar or a baked potato bar where guests can help themselves to all the fixings. In advance of your guests arriving, prepare baked potatoes and hot dogs with buns. For the baked potato bar, set out bowls with grated cheese, sour cream, chives and butter and guests can help themselves. For the hot dog bar, have a little fun with the fixings. Set out ingredients so guests can create their choice of a mexican corn dog, a frank and beans dog or a reuben dog with sauerkraut and swiss cheese. For more dog ideas, visit the noble pig.

4. Printable Plays: Easy to craft popcorn cones are great to hand out to guests for individual snack portions. To keep with the football theme, print off these play sheets, roll them up and voila! An alternative is to make cones out of brown construction paper and then add the laces on with white out.

5.  Final Score: Ask your guests to guess the final score of the game and write them on these cup holders. This is a great way to keep track of your drink and you can incorporate a prize for whomever guesses closest to the final score.

9. Bets on: And what is a super bowl party without a few friendly bets? If Bingo isn’t your thing, ask guests to fill out their bets on some of the more obscure aspects of the game. Here are a few ideas to get you started:

* How many times will Gisele Bundchen be shown on TV?

* What colour hair will Katy Perry sport during her half time performance?

* What colour gatorade will be dumped on the coach?

* What colour sweater will Bill Belichick wear?

* How many times will the announcer refer to Marshawn Lynch as Beast Mode?

* How many times will “deflate” be said during the game?
