Summer Beauty Essentials

Can it be that we’ve already passed the half-way point of summer? I don’t want to believe it. Luckily, this weekend, 4/5 nuts will be reunited for a weekend of sun, swimming, sangria and storytelling. Our plan? Sit by my pool, catch some rays and have a serious catch up sesh. Sounds perfect right? It will be.

Since it’s going to be such a quintessential outdoor weekend, it got me thinking about the beauty products I will be reaching for during and afterwards. Below, you’ll find a compilation of the beauty products I’ve been swearing by this summer.

hands and feet

The Perfect Foot File

Being barefoot can leave heels dry and cracked, but keep your feet happy with this inexpensive, but extremely effective, foot file. This double-sided tool gets rid of tough skin and smoothes it to perfection.

Essie Nail Polish

As if this is a surprise, considering I post about Essie nail colours once a season… Anyway, with summer here, Essie has the perfect warm-weather shades. We only get to wear flip flops for a few precious months a year… show off those toes! My favourites right now? Mint Candy Apple and Van D’go.

Hair1

Moroccan Oil

This trusted tool saves my hair on a regular basis. When it is feeling especially dry, I lather my hair up with Moroccan oil before bed and leave it in overnight. When I wash it out in the morning, it feels baby-soft and fly-aways and heat-damage are minimized. Plus, you can also use this on dry skin! Win.

Davine’s Alchemic Silver Shampoo & Conditioner

To all my fellow blondies, this is a MUST. Exposure to pollution, sun and chlorine can be extra hard on blonde hair, taking brilliant blonde hues to a sad, brassy tone. Amp up your blonde with this purple shampoo and conditioner. It’s pricey, but you don’t need to use it every day. Just when your hair colour needs to be punched up – a couple of times a week at most.

Lips

Baby Lips Lip Balm

I stumbled across baby lips when my local Shopper’s Drug Mart was having a blowout sale. This drugstore brand is inexpensive, but makes lips feel so soft. The upside? SPF 20 will keep your lips protected from the rays you’re taking in.

skin

Spa Wisdom Africa Ximenia & Salt Scrub

Just like my hair, my skin also gets dried out from all-day soaks in my chlorinated pool. To keep it smooth, I rely on The Body Shop’s Spa Wisdom Salt Scrub. It smells amazing and sloughs away rough skin.

Coconut Lime Breeze Triple Moisture Body Cream

After I’ve buffed my skin and filed my feet, I need to give my skin an extra layer of moisture to rejuvenate it. I love this tropical-smelling body cream because it makes me feel like I’m on vacation. I keep a miniature version of the lotion on me at all times.

Hawaiian Tropic Sheer Touch SPF 30 Lotion  Sunscreen

I’m not going to lecture you on the importance of sunscreen, but I am putting it on my list. While sunscreen is not necessarily a “beauty” product, it makes the list because of its sheer necessity in my summer regiment. I choose Hawaiian Tropic because it applies easily and smells the best of the (many) brands I’ve tried.
