If you’ll remember, Meghan, Kate & I participated in a blogger challenge at the Dailey Method Ottawa back in November. Our challenge was to take three Dailey Method classes a week for a month to see if we noticed any results.

Not only were results (stronger, leaner muscles) noticeable on all three of us—even coming from different backgrounds and body types—but, also we fell in love with the community that is The Dailey Method Ottawa. Now that the studio has opened in its permanent and beautiful home at the Fifth Avenue Court in the Glebe, we have all committed to taking class somewhere between 3 – 5 times a week. The Dailey Method is a fitness approach that combines ballet barre work, core conditioning, and muscle strengthening through yoga, Pilates, and orthopedic exercise. During the hour-long workout, you’ll work all your major muscle groups while using light weights, your own body weight, a traditional ballet barre and exercise balls. The major focus of the class is proper alignment and preventing injuries through stretching, but if you think that sounds like a cakewalk, you’re wrong. The class is a go-at-your-own-pace style, but pushing yourself means working your muscles to fatigue and embracing your shaking limbs when you do so. Your arms (biceps, triceps and shoulders), thighs, glutes and abs will definitely feel a Dailey Method workout, trust me.FullSizeRender-1

Not only is it a great workout, but also you’ll be met with incredibly warm and welcoming staff, a beautiful space and a friendly atmosphere. The classes are set to an upbeat playlist of music and no two classes are the same. There must be thousands of different exercises in the Dailey Method playbook, because I feel like I try something new every class!
