Bridal Shower Gift Guide

‘Tis the season of showers! I wrote about my favourite gifts to bring to a baby shower a few weeks back and today I’m turning my attention towards bridal showers. We actually hosted a bridal shower over the weekend and it went off spectacularly (lots of photos at the bottom of this post). Here are some gift ideas if you aren’t buying from a registry.

1. Silk Robe

Sexy and classy (but not too embarrassing to open in front of your grandmother!) that the bride can bring on her honeymoon!

2. Champagne

A bottle of bubbles is always a great gift; the couple can save it to mark their special day, or come back to it in a few months once the wedding fever is over and they have a chance to reflect on how special their wedding was.

3. Personalized Mugs

The Moscow mule cocktail has made a huge comeback in the last couple of years. The copper mugs that they are traditionally served in are chic and when personalized, they’re extra special. I love the idea of having the couple’s initials etched into these mugs.

4. A Cookbook for Two

If the couple are big foodies, why not turn to a cookbook meant for two. Cooking together is always fun and such a nice way to spend time together. You could give this cookbook along with some fun specialty items, like fancy spices or jams.

5. “Mrs” Necklace

Something special to be worn after the big day!

6. Picnic Basket

I saw a picnic basket given as a gift at a previous shower and I was blown away by it! Such a cute and thoughtful gift that the couple would likely never think to buy for themselves.

7. Balcony Outfit

Silk boy shorts and a cami make, what my mom calls, a “balcony outfit”. For the honeymoon when you want to sip coffee (or mimosas) on the balcony, so you need something full coverage, but still want to look cute. This got a huge laugh at the shower this weekend because it’s so true. Basically,  you haven’t lived until you’ve owned a “balcony outfit”.

At the shower we threw over the weekend, we were inspired by the 20’s for decor. We followed a colour scheme of black, gold and silver; it was all very “glitz and glam”. The theme for gifts was “bustiers and bubbles” so guests brought lingerie and sparkling wine for the bride. What a fantastic evening celebrating one of our best friends. Cheers to all the brides of summer 2016; may your bridal showers be filled with lots of love and memories for you to cherish!
