We talk about friendship a lot on the blog, because we’re lucky to be blessed with some amazing women in our lives. Part of our group being so amazing is that we look forward to getting together and spoiling each other when our Birthdays roll around. We always get together to buy the person something tailored to them and that they will love. This year, my girlfriend hit it out of the park with my gift, and I had to share it with our readers. Rather than get me one big gift, the girls, knowing how much I love beauty products, got me a subscription to Birchbox. Enter monthly deliveries of amazing beauty products for me to try out.
The vision behind Birchbox is simple: a better way to try and shop for beauty and grooming products. If you’ve ever walked into Sephora and had the feeling that you didn’t know where to start or that you could go bankrupt trying to find the right product, you aren’t alone! Enter Birchbox. The subscription service let’s you easily try and learn about five new products each month and gives you a “one-stop shop” to get full sizes of the products you end up loving. While I am receiving beauty products, there are also men’s grooming product boxes available too – something for everyone!
I received my first box this month and was pleasantly surprised by the contents. I think the fear that most people have with beauty subscriptions is that the size of the samples are not worthwhile. I don’t know about you, but I am not a fan of individually portioned samples (I’m talking enough lotion to use only one time). Instead, I received samples that can actually be used for quite some time to really give me a feel for the products.
Plus, it was like the box knew what I wanted: the eyeshadow is a perfect colour for me, the face mask was exactly what my dry skin called for and the sea salt spray came from the same line of products of the shampoo/conditioner that I already use. Although I haven’t gone on and picked my preferences (I’m all for surprises), you can create a profile and let them know what you’re interested in so that the products you receive are tailored to you.
All in all, the girls definitely hit it out of the park with this gift! I would highly recommend it as a gift option as we get closer to the Holiday shopping season. Plus, I’ll be discovering new products each month that I can share with you – it’s a win/win nuts!
