Five Toronto restaurants to satisfy your every craving

Toronto’s roster of restaurants seems to evolve by the day, with constant chef changes, closures relocations and so. many. openings. It can be difficult to keep up. Here are 5 restaurants that bear our stamp of approval, catered to specific cravings… let us know what you think in the comments!

If you’re craving… unique cocktails & tapas, we recommend:
Portland Variety
587 King Street West (King & Portland)
This busy corner demanded a hotspot that offered variety, and thats just what PV serves up – everything from gourmet coffee, baked goods, fancy cocktails, tapas-style dinner and even lunch. Jess and I have had our ups and downs with it, as the kinks were worked out those first few months, but the truth of the matter is that the cocktails are super impressive and delicious, and you can’t beat that amazing location.

If you’re craving… smokey BBQ, we recommend:
Barque Smokehouse
299 Ronvesvalles Avenue
If you’re feeling those carnivore cravings kick in, Barque Smokehouse in Roncey is the best place to turn. The wood-clad resto provides diners with individual marinading brushes and buckets of spiced popcorn upon arrival, before one even has a chance to glance at the menu. The food is absolutely scrumptious – including smoky baby back ribs, corn on the cob, kale salad, and so much more. Great for impressing visitors :)

If you’re craving… a patio with no waiting list, we recommend:
Union
72 Ossington Avenue
On a beautiful sunny Saturday, it can be challenging to find a patio that will take you on the spot without question, or eye roll. Nestled behind this Ossington restaurant is just the ticket to patio bliss, a quaint spot with a gorgeous ceiling of trees and a menu of comfort food and cocktails for a delectable evening.

If you’re craving… noodles, we recommend:
Momofuku Noodle Bar
190 University Avenue

We all know that when a Toronto restaurant is at its peak of popularity, it can be impossible to get a table. But, thank goodness Momofuku Noodle Bar has come up with a formula to welcome crowds, please them with bowls of noodles and cups of cereal milk ice cream (yes, cereal milk) and send them on their way feeling pleasantly plump. (They don’t take reservations.)

If you’re craving… authentic Mexican, we recommend:
Playa Cabana Hacienda
14 Dupont Street

Toronto is riddled with taco places galore, but there are those few executions that standout in the pack (we’re big fans of La Carnita too.) Playa Cabana’s four Mexican locations in Toronto are each delightful, but you can’t help but love Hacienda for its lively décor and atmosphere, and the food will not disappoint, either. Another great spot to take visitors!
