Testing, Testing; Attention Please! Announcing Winterfest 2012!

Tirelessly searching Ottawa's streets for the next BIG thing.

We at in a nutshell are proud supporters of our Nation’s Capital, frequently looking for the next big thing on the Ottawa scene. So far, we’ve brought you features on Fall Down Gallery, Birdie Blues Jewellery, and a foray into the Ottawa food scene, with articles on Eat Cobra and Chef Appreciation Night at Oz Kafé.

Over the past year, we also gave you a peek into Ottawa’s Hip Hop scene, speaking with local up-and-comer, Spitten Image and covering the much hyped Action Bronson show, featuring Spitten as well as Flight Distance and Philly Moves, two of Ottawa’s most talked about acts.

Now, in a nutshell is pleased to announce that we are one of the proud sponsors of the upcoming music festival, Winterfest, an all-day celebration of Ottawa’s Hip Hop culture taking place in the Nation’s Capital on January 21st. This one of a kind event is being put on by CKCU-FM, located at Olliver’s Pub on Carleton University’s campus and is sure to start of 2012 with a bang.

Headlining the event is Urbnet Recording artist and two-time JUNO Nominee, DL Incognito, with performances from a multitude of well established and up-and-coming Canadian acts. Winterfest will also feature fashion from Ottawa’s top designers and live visual art being done on-site. Prizes and giveaways courtesy of CKCU-FM and the amazing local sponsors (ahem) will also be part of the mix!

Headliner, DL Incognito

We couldn’t be more excited to be involved with such a fantastic event that will showcase the talent that our city has to offer! Stay tuned for upcoming artist features, which will profile the acts that are lined up to perform. Also, make sure that you pick up tickets soon, because it will definitely be a sold out event!  We nuts will be in attendance, and we’d love the opportunity to meet our lovely readers while taking in everything that Ottawa’s Hip Hop scene has to offer!
